LA LASTRA
20’00”
“Tobia spent his days at Giulia and Riccardo’s house. Behind their house lies a huge imposing hill “the Lastra”. Between games, bets and discoveries the boys challenge each other to conquer the summit.”
La Lastra is my first short film resulting from my degree in Cinema. Made independently and featuring ten-year-old protagonists, the film focuses on the pre-maturity sexual search. The discovery, in a rural country world, of self and non-self passing through trauma and memories. The work is a hybrid of fiction and nonfiction, given the autobiographical theme and real location work. With this project I related for the first time to auditions, casting and an intensive rehearsal period before filming with children. Since the theme was particularly intimate, I had to relate to the parents well in advance, always respecting my and their position.
The theme arose from a memory in fantile: that of the cry of deer in the season of love. A monstrous, terrifying verse. This led me to want to portray the first stage of discovery as something fearful, mystical and fascinating.
